Welcome to the home page of the Washington State Chapter of the Tourette Syndrome Association, a volunteer, non-profit organization affiliated with the national Tourette Syndrome Association. We exist to offer information, support and resources regarding Tourette Syndrome and its related conditions. We work together with the medical community, the schools and families whose lives are touched by TS.

TSA Washington and Oregon is pleased to be one of several co-sponsors of BRIGHTER TOMORROWS: Best in the Northwest Special Needs Conference. The conference will have information about special education advocacy, legal system advocacy, health, therapies, and caregiver issues.

The conference's primary sponsor is the Wyatt Holliday Foundation.

Spend Friday, March 7 and/or Saturday, March 8 at Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington for this important conference. This is the second year of this conference for parents of children with complex medical and/or behavioral needs.

Among the many people who will be presenting at the conference are Bette Lamont (development movement therapist), Dan Olmsed (AgeOfAutism.com), and Andrew Cuddy, Esq. (Special education advocacy).

Registration discounts are available for anyone who joints the Exceptional Families Network, which is affiliated with the Wyatt Holliday Foundation. Membership is free.

New Book about Asperger's Syndrome includes chapter about Tourette Syndrome (TS)

The Asperger Plus Child: How to Identify and Help Children with Asperger Syndrome and Seven Common Co-Existing Conditions is written by George T. Lynn, M.A., M.P.A., L.M.H.C. with Joanne Barrie Lynn. Mr. Lynn is a counselor based in Bellevue, Washington .

This book is written for parents, foster parents, teachers, social workers, counselors and health care professionals.

Mr. Lynn recently joined the Tourette Syndrome Association of Washington and Oregon's Professional Advisory Board. Mr. Lynn has been a friend of our chapter for many years.

New Book by Oliver Sacks

Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain, the new book by Oliver Sacks, MD, has been climbing the charts since its release in October. Dr. Sacks made appearances in Portland and in Seattle to promote this book, which includes a chapter on Tourette Syndrome and music. This book is published by Knopf.

Sacks is the neurologist and author who has written other best sells as Awakenings and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. Dr. Sacks has been a friend of TSA for many years.

An upcoming edition of Connections, the TSA Washington and Oregon Newsletter will feature a book review of Musicophilia!
